Building a covered ice rink
Our covered ice rink is designed for year-round use, sheltered from the elements. Whether you’re a professional hockey player or a winter sports enthusiast, you can enjoy the ice surface outdoors without being constrained by the weather.
The construction of a covered ice rink is a real asset for promoting the use of the sports area, while benefiting also from a sports structure that is economical to install and operate.

Ecological construction for ice rink roofing
SMC2 favours a virtuous construction system for ice rink roofing. We are using wood – a material renowned for its ability to store CO2 and for its aesthetic and technical qualities – for the framework. For the cover of the ice rink, we favour the textile membrane, a bright, very resistant, translucent and recyclable material.
Speed of execution is a major advantage of our work, made possible by dry construction, with a custom-designed building prefabricated in the workshop for rapid assembly on site.
By covering the ice rink with an SMC2 canopy, playing comfort is optimised without detracting from the surrounding landscape. The open access is a constant invitation to play hockey or any other board sport, making it even more fun to play sport together. The ice rink can also be covered by a complete hall with facades to create a dedicated building, with the possibility of adding spectator stands, for example.
Equipped with LED lighting if required, sports sessions can continue into the evening, allowing everyone to enjoy the rink all day long.

Covering an ice rink: an advantage in summer and winter alike
In winter, the cover will extend the period of use of the ice in the case of an ice rink. The rink is protected from the sunrays, but still benefits from plenty of natural light.
In summer, on the other hand, this sports area offers a multi-purpose surface and becomes a covered multi-sports court, enabling the practice of a wide range of sports such as basketball, volleyball, pickleball, soccer or football, deck hockey, but also day camps and even skateboarding, depending on the surface and modules chosen.
