An Innovative Sports Canopy in Houlgate
In 2023, the city of Houlgate inaugurated a 1 550 m²/16684 Ft2 sports canopy, designed to provide a covered and functional space for athletes at the Normandy Sports Center. This modern structure seamlessly blends technical performance and aesthetics, using innovative and sustainable materials.
The building’s framework combines glulam timber and powder-coated steel, ensuring both strength and lightness. The textile membrane roof is known for its weather resistance and ability to naturally diffuse light, creating a pleasantly lit environment throughout the day.
The canopy’s façades have been designed to balance protection and openness. Two sides feature micro-perforated fabric, allowing natural ventilation while shielding users from wind and rain.
A galvanized steel drainage system ensures efficient rainwater management, reinforcing the structure’s durability.
One of the outstanding features of this facility is its motorized sports equipment, including volleyball nets and retractable soccer and handball goals. These innovative systems allow for quick adaptation of space based on the sport being played. Thanks to an automated lifting mechanism, the equipment can be easily deployed or retracted, optimizing space usage and streamlining sports activity organization. This level of flexibility provides athletes with a versatile and functional environment, tailored to various sports disciplines.
This project embodies modernity, comfort, and durability, making the Houlgate sports canopy an ideal venue for beach sports, regardless of weather conditions.
