Two new covered school canopies for the Boncelin preschool and elementary school in Aix-les-Bains in France
SMC2 has delivered two modern covered playground structures for the Boncelin School in Aix-les-Bains, as part of a schoolyard redevelopment project designed to provide students with safe and functional sheltered areas.
These canopies for the preschool and elementary school were designed to combine aesthetics, durability and comfort:
● Glulam timber structure
● Textile membrane roof, allowing natural light to pass through while protecting from the weather
● Preschool canopy: 64,1 m²/690 sq ft, perfectly suited to younger children
● Elementary school canopy: 127.5 m²/1,375 sq ft, ideal for group activities and recess
This construction fully complies with current regulations for schoolyard design. It ensures children’s safety while allowing them to enjoy outdoor spaces all year round, regardless of the weather. These covered outdoor areas create welcoming and playful zones adapted to every age group.
With these schoolyard canopies, SMC2 demonstrates its expertise in building functional and aesthetically pleasing school shelters, designed to enhance comfort and safety for children while adding value to the school environment.
