A next-generation sports canopy for beach sports

SMC2 has built a 2 575 m²/27 717 Ft² sports canopy, designed to provide a covered and functional space dedicated to beach sports activities. This project combines technology, durability, and comfort, ensuring optimal playing conditions all year round.

The building’s structure is based on a hybrid glulam and galvanized steel frame, a combination that offers both strength and lightness while aligning with a sustainable approach. The roof is made of a textile membrane, an innovative material that naturally diffuses light, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day.

The façades have been designed to balance protection and openness, featuring screen-printed micro-perforated fabric in the upper sections. This ensures natural ventilation, minimizing the feeling of enclosure and enhancing athlete comfort, while also giving the structure a distinctive aesthetic identity.

To ensure efficient rainwater management, the canopy is equipped with gutters and a galvanized steel water recovery system, reinforcing the building’s durability and sustainability.

The sand sports surface is specifically designed to accommodate various beach sports disciplines, including beach volleyball, beach soccer, and beach tennis. Additionally, the space is illuminated by a high-performance LED system, ensuring optimal conditions for sports practice both day and night.

This state-of-the-art sports canopy sets a new benchmark for beach sports infrastructure, seamlessly blending modern engineering, environmental responsibility, and user comfort.
