PLAY TOWER – MORILLON (FRANCE)
COMPLETION DATE 2025
SURFACE AREA 403 M2 / 4338 Ft2
In the heart of the Morillon 110 Les Esserts resort in the French Alps, SMC2 has created a project that embodies its vision of play architecture: a facility offering an immersive experience that blends nature, sports, and imagination.
This play area was designed as a true intergenerational gathering place. Intended to welcome people of all ages, it features a balance course, a zip line, swings, a play tower, and a play area for toddlers.
A true landmark in the mountain landscape, the tower is the centerpiece of this playground and rises like a playful lookout. Reaching a height of 23 ft, it invites children to climb high to better explore their surroundings.
Through a series of obstacles—nets, poles, platforms, ropes, and harnesses—the climb becomes an adventure in itself, blending effort, fun, and discovery.
Built primarily of wood, the structure blends seamlessly into its alpine surroundings, echoing the landscapes and its theme: forests and alpine pastures. This choice of sustainable materials, combined with a multi-story design, minimizes the building’s footprint while offering a maximum of activities within an optimized space.
With this project, SMC2 demonstrates its ability to transform a tourist area into a year-round recreational destination, creating a sustainable architectural signature that enhances the region’s appeal.
