SCHOOL CANOPY – BOBIGNY (FRANCE)

Location BOBIGNY (FRANCE)
COMPLETION DATE 2022
SURFACE AREA 313 M2 / 3369 Ft2

An elegant and functional school canopy for Anne Frank Nursery School in Bobigny – France.

A school canopy is more than just a shelter: it is a living space, a place where children can play, interact, and learn, protected from the elements.
At Anne Frank Nursery School, SMC2 designed and built a 313 m²/3369 ft² playground shelter directly connected to the main building. Its curved shape blends harmoniously into the school environment, creating a welcoming space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

It features a mixed structure, combining glued-laminated timber and grey powder-coated steel.
The roof is made of a tensioned fabric membrane, providing effective protection from bad weather while allowing soft, natural light to filter through.
The materials are durable and suited to outdoor constraints, ensuring compliance with regulations on school playground design.

This nursery school canopy offers children a safe space to play, gather, or take part in educational activities, whatever the weather. Beyond its practical function, it adds real value to the school thanks to its modern, harmonious design.

At SMC2, we bring our expertise in school canopy construction and timber frame structures to create projects that are sustainable, aesthetic, and designed for the well-being of their users.
